Are you struggling with stubborn fat that simply won’t go away no matter how much you diet and exercise? You may have heard of CoolSculpting, an increasingly popular procedure to eliminate fat cells. But what exactly is CoolSculpting, and can it really help with weight loss? This article will answer some of the most frequently asked questions we get about CoolSculpting and weight loss.
What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a fat-freezing body contouring procedure that’s gained attention in recent years due to its ability to remove some of your fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.
So How Does Fat Freezing Work?
Fat freezing (aka cryolipolysis) is the process of freezing fat cells to induce their natural death. It does this by using a special applicator to deliver controlled cooling to a targeted area of your body.
The cold causes the fat cells to crystallize and die. Your body will then naturally eliminate them over the course of several weeks.
Cryolipolysis is painless and requires no downtime, making it a popular choice when you’re looking for a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.
Will I Lose Weight With CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting can help to reduce stubborn pockets of fat, yes, and this in turn leads to lowering the number on your scale.
But remember that CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment nor a substitute for healthy habits such as regular exercise and a balanced diet!
How Much Fat Can You Lose With CoolSculpting?
The amount of fat lost with CoolSculpting varies depending on the individual (you are unique!) and the treatment area. Generally, though, you can expect a ~25% fat reduction in the treated area.
How Long Does it Take For CoolSculpting to Work?
Results from CoolSculpting can take up to 12 weeks, but most individuals begin to see results much sooner.
Why Am I Gaining Weight After CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting doesn’t prevent future weight gain. CoolSculpting and weight loss are two different things, as we mentioned above. And to maintain results, it’s important to continue having a healthy lifestyle.
What is the Ideal Weight For CoolSculpting?
There’s no ideal weight for CoolSculpting. The treatment is designed to target specific areas of fat, regardless of your overall body weight. However, a good target is to be at – or very nearly at – the ideal weight for you.
So – it’s obviously good to have been maintaining sustainable weight loss before choosing to treat those stubborn areas you despair over!
How Many Sizes Can You Go Down With CoolSculpting?
This will vary depending on your unique body and the type and size of the treatment area you’re targeting.
For a small area, such as your arms, you can expect a maximum of half an inch. However, you can lose up to three inches on bigger areas, such as your stomach or thighs.
And if you combine CoolSculpting with some sensible weight loss strategies to reach your healthiest weight, the results can be even more remarkable.
How Many Sessions of CoolSculpting Do You Need For Belly Fat?
In general, most people need at least two cycles (sometimes four) in the abdomen area. In addition, we recommend at least two sessions for your stomach area to achieve the desired results. You can always opt for additional sessions if your belly fat is more stubborn than expected. But it’s worth it – CoolSculpting results can be quite impressive.
Can I Use CoolSculpting on My Arms?
You can absolutely go for CoolSculpting arms! By targeting the fat in your arms, you reduce the appearance of so-called bat wings.
Can I Tone My Thighs With CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting thighs can reduce fat and lead to a slimmer and more contoured appearance. This complements your efforts to lose weight sustainably. And – as the summer “bare-leg season” approaches – it will help you feel rewarded for your ongoing healthy lifestyle (you have adopted one, haven’t you?).
Does CoolSculpting Get Rid of Cellulite?
This is going to be a less positive answer! Cellulite refers to the fat that accumulates in small pockets under your skin and gives you that dimpled appearance.
We mentioned earlier that fat freezing essentially removes fat pockets, so it’s definitely reasonable to wonder if CoolSculpting gets rid of cellulite.
However, the root cause of cellulite is the weak connective tissue that attaches the muscles to the skin. And the process of fat freezing doesn’t do anything to improve the quality of these tissues or improve the appearance of your skin.
This means that CoolSculpting doesn’t get rid of, or improve, the appearance of cellulite. (There are other treatments for that.)
How Can I Speed Up Fat Loss After CoolSculpting?
We think you’ll suspect by now what our answer will be! If you combine CoolSculpting and weight loss efforts you’ll see faster results.
