Aging skin can be a concern for you – and many others! But Juvéderm fillers offer a popular solution that’s safe and effective. So let’s look at:

  • What Juvéderm fillers are and how they work
  • Different types of Juvéderm available
  • Preparing for the treatment and what happens afterwards
  • How long Juvéderm results last – because that can be a deciding factor in whether you go ahead!

What is Juvéderm?

The filler is based on hyaluronic acid (HA). This is a naturally occurring substance in your body that helps with skin hydration and volume. And because you have HA in your body, your system recognizes Juvéderm products. This makes them a very safe option.

Juvéderm, as a brand, consists of HA-based dermal fillers that add volume and improve the appearance of your skin. This effectively counteracts your loss of hyaluronic acid as you age – like everything else, HA goes south as we age!

If you’re curious about how Juvéderm actually works, it’s relatively simple.

The healthcare provider injects the filler into the targeted area of your skin, where it attracts water molecules to hydrate and plump the area. This results in more volume, fewer wrinkles, and thus a youthful and refreshed appearance. The antidote to aging skin!

There are several different Juvéderm filler types, each with its own unique properties and uses:

  • Juvéderm Volbella
  • Juvéderm Voluma
  • Juvéderm Vollure
  • Juvéderm Ultra Plus
  • Juvéderm Volux

Juvéderm Volbella For a Natural-Looking Pout

Juvéderm Volbella is one of the most popular Juvéderm filler types, specifically designed to enhance the appearance of your lips and smooth out wrinkles in the perioral area (around the mouth). It’s a great option if you want a subtle lip volume and improvement in lip lines.

Juvéderm Voluma For Youthful Cheeks and Chin

Juvéderm Voluma is another great option for creating a more youthful and defined facial contour.

This filler is specifically FDA-approved to add volume and lift to your cheeks, helping to plump them up and reverse age-related volume loss.

Juvéderm Vollure XC to Smooth Nasolabial Folds

If you’re struggling with moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around your nose and mouth, Juvéderm Vollure XC may be the perfect solution for you.

This filler is a smooth, clear, and malleable gel injected into the skin to smooth out your nasolabial folds. It’s a great option if you want natural-looking results when those folds start to become more noticeable with age.

Juvéderm Ultra Plus For Deep Wrinkles

For a more dramatic effect, consider Juvéderm Ultra Plus. This robust formula is specifically designed to provide extra volume to aging skin and address deeper wrinkles and folds. It can last up to 12 months, making it an excellent choice if you’re looking to reduce any of those deep wrinkles and fine lines.

Juvéderm Volux XC For Jawline

Juvéderm Volux XC is the first and only FDA-approved HA filler for improving lost definition in the jawline* – with lasting results.

This filler can help achieve the look you want from all angles, with more definition in your jawline. Add volume to improve the shape and structure of your lower face and achieve a smooth, more defined look in the jawline with results that last up to 1 year with optimal treatment.

How to Prepare and Recover From Juvéderm Filler Treatments

To reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site, it’s best that you avoid certain medications and supplements at least one week before your Juvéderm filler session. These include

  • aspirin,
  • blood-thinners,
  • anti-inflammatory medication, and
  • Vitamin E or fish oil.

During the session, your healthcare provider will clean the area to be injected and apply numbing cream. They’ll then use a fine needle to inject the filler and possibly massage the area a little to ensure the filler is placed correctly.

The procedure usually takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the number of areas you’re having treated.

Like any medical treatment, Juvéderm fillers carry potential safety risks and side effects, including redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness. Although rare, serious side effects may occur, such as tissue damage, allergic reaction, or infection.

After the treatment, your provider will recommend you avoid

  • strenuous exercise,
  • excessive sun exposure,
  • touching the treated area,
  • alcohol for at least 24 hours, and
  • hot and spicy food for 24 hours (in the case of lip fillers).

You’ll obviously discuss all post-treatment care with your healthcare provider to ensure a quick and smooth recovery and minimize the risk of complications. As we said, HA fillers are the most commonly used and very safe.

How Long Does Juvéderm Last?

Generally speaking, the results of Juvéderm fillers last between six months and two years. Factors that may affect the duration of your Juvéderm results include

  • age,
  • metabolism,
  • skin type,
  • lifestyle habits, and
  • type of filler used.

It’s important to follow your provider’s recommendations to achieve best results, such as avoiding excessive sun exposure (mentioned above), maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen – and following a good skincare routine to maintain the results.

Which Juvéderm Filler is Right For Me?

The right Juvéderm filler for you will depend on your unique needs and goals.

If you’re looking for subtle lip enhancement and improvement in fine lines, then Juvéderm Volbella may be the right choice. When you want to create a more youthful and defined facial contour, Juvéderm Voluma is an excellent option for adding volume and lift to your cheeks and chin.
